How Does It Work?
The SCRIBE Bible Journal helps you cultivate the quiet time habit in three easy steps:
STEP 1: Plan your quiet times the night before
Well over 100 studies have shown that deciding in advance when and where you will take specific actions to reach your goal can double or triple your chances of success.
Motivational scientists call this technique “IF-THEN” Planning or implementation intentions.
“IF-THEN” plans take the form of: IF X happens THEN I will do Y.
In our case it could be IF it is 7pm and the baby is asleep THEN I will read Matthew 13.
STEP 2: Do your quiet times
The Daily Layout
SCRIBE uses a modified version of the S.O.A.P Bible study method to encourage deep thinking about what you’ve read in Scripture and connect the teaching to your life.
SCRIPTURE - Write down the Bible passage you’re studying.
OBSERVATION & INTERPRETATION – Write down what you observe in the text. Then write down what it means.
APPLICATION – Write down how this Scripture applies to your life.
PRAYER – Write out a prayer to God.
STEP 3: Track and Reflect
SCRIBE offers various ways to track your progress.
You can do it daily via the 40 Day Challenge Tracking Bar at the bottom of the Daily Layout pictured in the photo under the first step above.
And on a weekly basis through the Weekly Review.
